With its pretty harbour and quaint riverside buildings, Whitby is the kind of town you could spend your whole holiday simply wandering around and enjoying the fantastic historic town as you explore its quirky cobbled streets lined with shops.

    This traditional coaching hotel is situated high on West Cliff, directly opposite the famous Whalebone Arch, occupying a commanding position with wonderful views across the beaches, harbour and old town. Restaurant, bar & lounge.

    Mobility Grade:3 – Locality & hotel is generally level, however there is a slight incline when walking into the town centre. Isolated steps within hotel. The hotel has a lift.

    Itinerary


    Monday

    We depart and make our way north to Yorkshire and the Royal Hotel Whitby, with time to settle in and relax before dinner this evening.

    Tuesday

    This morning we journey across the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors to Eden Camp. Housed within the buildings and grounds of a former Prisoner of War camp, this is a unique museum that will take you back to wartime Britain. Later we journey to Pickering to join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a steam train journey through rugged moorland back to Whitby, passing through Goathland (featured as 'Aidensfield' in TV's Heartbeat).

    Wednesday

    A free day to discover the varied attractions of Whitby. Whitby is a maritime town, fishing port and seafarer's haven, bursting with character and quite unique. We have time to wander the little alleyways and narrow streets and perhaps climb the famous steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey

    Thursday

    This morning we journey along the coastline to Scarborough. Enjoy free time at leisure to explore the town with its indoor markets and antique shops or walk up to Scarborough's fortress castle and enjoy the views across the Bays. This afternoon we visit Scarborough Fairground Heritage Museum. Step back in time as you wander around the various halls packed full of wonderful exhibits and even take a ride on some of the vintage fairground rides!

    Friday

    After breakfast we depart for home.
