Wells is a stunning city, rich in architectural heritage and home to many historic landmarks. Explore its vibrant independent shops before unwinding at the Swan Hotel, perfectly positioned in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the cathedral and Bishops Palace. With origins dating back to 1422, the hotel has been carefully restored and extended over the years, offering modern amenities in a beautiful setting whilst preserving its character and heritage. The hotel has no lift, but a small number of ground floor rooms.

Itinerary
Day 1 |
We travel to Wells, making a suitable stop for lunch en-route, arriving at our hotel during the afternoon. |
Day 2 |
We enjoy an exclusive private tour of 900-year-old Cistercian monastery, Forde Abbey and its award-winning 30 acre gardens, an eye-opener to a rich and varied past. Walk as monks once would have in the largely unchanged and still overwhelmingly monastic estate, boasting the Centenary Fountain, the highest in the country. We return to our hotel via the charming town of Glastonbury, with its lovely array of independent shops and cafes. |
Day 3 |
A day at leisure to relax and enjoy Wells. There is a lot to keep you occupied, not least the incredible cathedral, and we also include a visit to the Bishop's Palace, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years and now open to the public. There are also 14 acres of RHS Partner gardens to explore |
Day 4 |
Today is a full day in Regency Bath with free time to explore the wonderful ambience, healing waters and Georgian architecture. Bath was the thriving social scene that set the stage for Jane Austen's Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. Admire the honey-coloured facades featured in Jane Austen's letters and novels, and also in works like Bridgerton, Les Miserables and Sherlock, not least the iconic Royal Crescent. Wrap up the day at the Jane Austen Centre, where's you will uncover how life in this elegant city shaped her insights into society, inspiring themes of class and social expectations that still captivate readers today. |

After breakfast we commence our return home, arriving during the afternoon. |
