Itinerary
Friday |
We begin our break by travelling from Henley in Arden to Newcastle, making a convenient lunch stop along the way before continuing north. We will make a photo stop at the Angel of the North before arriving in the city, where we check in to the Copthorne Hotel, situated on the picturesque Quayside. Arriving in to Newcastle mid-afternoon, the remainder of the afternoon evening is at leisure, giving time to relax after the journey or take a gentle stroll along the riverside and enjoy the views across the Tyne. |
Saturday |
Today is a full day at leisure to explore Newcastle independently. Guests may wish to visit cultural attractions such as the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art or Newcastle Castle, enjoy a wander through the elegant streets of Grainger Town, or spend time browsing the shops in Eldon Square and along Northumberland Street. The Quayside offers a lovely setting for a riverside walk, while Ouseburn provides a vibrant mix of independent cafés, craft beer spots and creative spaces. With a wide selection of restaurants and pubs throughout the city, there are plenty of opportunities for refreshments and dining. The hotel is a short walk from the City Centre, but in case of bad weather or those with limited mobility, our coach is on hand to provide shuttles to the City Centre. |
Sunday |
After breakfast, we will stay for a while in Newcastle to enjoy the Sunday Quayside Market, Boasting a vibrant and varied showcase of quality goods and produce, you'll find everything from jewellery and accessories, to artwork, ceramics, clothing, toys and handmade crafts from the vendors who attend each week. There's also a number of street artists and buskers to help create the warm, friendly atmosphere that the North East is known for, so you'll be fully immersed in Geordie culture. We then continue our journey south, pausing for a convenient lunch stop en route. We expect to arrive back in Henley in Arden during the evening, bringing our Newcastle city break to a relaxed and enjoyable close. |
