    Itinerary

    Day 1

We travel south with a suitable stop for lunch en-route before arriving at our hotel for our 6-night stay.

    Day 2

A day of leisure to enjoy Eastbourne. Maybe take a stroll and see some beautiful views of Beachy Head, the highest chalk sea cliffs in the UK. Alternatively, you could visit the Redoubt Fort, built to keep the Napoleonic armies out of Britain, it now tells the story of over 200 years of naval history. At the sheltered western most end of Eastbourne is the Italian Garden a delightful, quiet place, where you can simply enjoy the views.

    Day 3

We journey into 1066 country via Pevensey Bay and the picturesque abbey town of Battle, the site of the famous Battle of Hastings, we then continue to the ancient Cinque Port of Rye with its enchanting, cobbled streets. We return via Hastings and its delightful Old Town with its quaint narrow streets, also renowned as the location for filming the TV series "Foyles War".

    Day 4

A day at leisure to relax and explore Eastbourne. Maybe take a leisurely stroll along the wide promenade with its renowned Carpet Gardens and perhaps a visit to the Victorian pier. In the afternoon enjoy an included Cream Tea at the hotel.

    Day 5

We take a drive via dramatic Beachy Head and the Sussex Coast to Regency Brighton where we include a Guided Tour of the Royal Pavilion - an exotic palace in the centre of Brighton with a colourful history. Built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV, this historic house mixes Regency grandeur with the visual style of India and China.

    Day 6

We start the day with a trip into yesteryear by boarding the Bluebell Railway, one of the UK's best-preserved heritage railways. From Sheffield Park station we journey through the idyllic Sussex countryside towards East Grinstead, enjoying the lovely vistas along the way. Afterwards, we explore the bustling market town of Lewes, surrounded by chalk cliffs in the South Downs. There are plenty of welcoming cafés and historic buildings to admire, including the Norman castle which dominates the townscape.

    Day 7

A leisurely drive homeward arriving home during the afternoon.
