LUXURY TRAVELLER
Combining a lovely 4-star hotel in Inverness with Sandman Signature Hotels in Aberdeen and Newcastle, this panoramic LuxuryTraveller tour takes in the sights of the Cairngorms, takes the train coast to coast across the mountains, meanders through Royal Deeside with a wee dram and sails beneath the Forth Bridges. Itinerary
Day 1 |
We travel to the Sandman Signature Hotel in Newcastle with comfort stops as required and a main stop in Durham before arriving with time to relax before dinner. |
Day 2 |
We take a journey along Northumberland's mystical shoreline, stopping at Bamburgh before heading to Holy Island, where the tides should let us across for the afternoon. |
Day 3 |
Our journey north continues with a stop in Pitlochry, at the gateway to the Cairngorms and then nearby Queens View, reputed to be Queen Victoria's favourite, with views across the Highlands. We arrive at the Kinsgmills Hotel in Inverness for 2 nights. |
Day 4 |
Our Scotrail train takes us coast to coast on the Kyle Line from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, overlooking Skye. This journey has been described as one of the great railway journeys and with good reason. We'll have a brief drive across via the Skye Bridge, before returning via Eilean Donan Castle viewpoint and Loch Ness to Inverness. |
Days 5 - 6 |
We take the scenic route from Inverness via Speyside and Royal Deeside, visiting the Royal Lochnagar Distillery for a tour and tasting, before arriving at our hotel in Aberdeen, the Sandman Signature Hotel, for 2 nights. Day 6 is at leisure to explore the 'Granite City'. |
Day 7 |
In complete contrast, our journey south begins with the coastal views of Aberdeenshire. On the outskirts of Edinburgh we have the additional treat of a Maid of the Forth boat trip under the Forth Bridges, before making our way for one last night at the Sandman Signature in Newcastle. |
Day 8 |
After breakfast we depart our hotel, returning home in the afternoon. |
