Friday/Saturday

A morning departure to Dover and our channel crossing to Calais. From here we drive to Holland and our overnight at the Postillion Hotel, Deventer. The following day we travel across Germany and into Denmark for an overnight stay at the Scandic Kolding Hotel.

Sunday

An early departure from our hotel due to ferry timetables sees us travel to Hirtshals on Denmark's south coast. Here we board a fast-craft for the exciting journey across the Skagerrak Sea to Norway. Leave the port and immediately encounter fantastic Norwegian scenery during the onward journey to The Straand Hotel Vrådal, on the shore of Lake Nisser for our 3-night stay.

Monday

A day at leisure in Vrådal. The hotel has great facilities including a large panoramic terrace, lounge, indoor swimming pool and a wonderful garden that sweeps down from the hotel to the lake shore and beach.

Tuesday

A full day excursion featuring the magnificent Hardangervidda Plateau, home to Europe's largest stock of reindeer. We include a visit to the fascinating World War II sabotage site at Vemork, now a museum, to learn about the partisan mission to destroy the Nazi's efforts to create 'the bomb'. Round off the day by crossing the Telemark canal before arriving back to the hotel.

Wednesday

Our transfer between hotels couldn't be much more scenic, skirting then crossing gorgeous Handangerfjord, past Voss and Gudvangen, then climbing to the Stalheim Hotel for a 3-night stay.

Thursday

See fjords, waterfalls and high mountain passes. Today's full day excursion features 2 ferry journeys across the Sognefjord, the Vik Mountains and visits to the Norwegian Glacier Museum and Borgund, arguably Norway's stave church par excellence.

Friday

The 'Norway in a Nutshell' excursion is world famous. We include the dramatic fjord cruise through the Næroyfjord and Aurlandsfjord between Gudvangen and Flåm and a return trip on the Flåm Railway, with views of some of Norway's wildest scenery. In the late afternoon return to Stalheim for an included visit to the Stalheim Folk Museum.

Saturday/Sunday

We meander back across the fjordland to the Thon Hotel at Horten for dinner and an overnight stay. On Sunday the Color Line ferry whisks us back to Denmark, from where we spend the night near Hamburg.

Monday/Tuesday

Travel through Germany, into Holland and on to the North Sea coast for a relaxing overnight crossing from Hook of Holland to Harwich, returning home to Henley on Tuesday.
