Itinerary
Monday |
Departing Henley, we journey to the northeast and to our hotel base for 4-nights - the popular 4-star rated Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. |
Tuesday |
Our local guide leads a tour of Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We visit Corbridge, Chesters Roman Fort, and Steel Rigg for stunning views, before continuing to Hexham and its historic Abbey. |
Wednesday |
We visit Bamburgh Castle, dramatically perched above the coast, followed by a Farne Islands Experience Cruise-a nature and wildlife journey around the rocky islands. (Weather permitting) |
Thursday |
We begin at Locomotion in Shildon, home to highlights from the National Collection of railway vehicles. Later, we visit the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle for a specialist curator talk. Housed in a majestic French-style chateau, the museum features a superb collection including the famous Silver Swan. |
Friday |
After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en-route. |
