The Hotel Great National is a luxurious 4-star hotel on the Dublin road in Ballina Co Mayo, a few minutes drive from Ballina town. This contemporary 87 bedroomed hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Co Mayo and the Wild Atlantic Way. The hotel also offers a 20 metre swimming pool, fully equipped gymnasium & Spa.
Mobility Grade: 4 Location reasonably level with isolated steps. Good access throughout for those with mobility issues. Lift to all floors.

Sunday |
We board our afternoon sailing to Ireland and then continue to the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar for our dinner and our overnight stay. |
Monday |
We continue the onward journey to Ballina, with a stop at the National Famine Museum at Strokestown, signifying a tragic but fascinating chapter of Irish history. We arrive at the Great National Hotel for our 4-night stay during the afternoon. |
Tuesday |
We visit the Georgian town of Westport before relishing some of Mayo's most spectacular scenery. Head to Mulranny, perched on the Wild Atlantic Way; up to Corraun with dramatic views across to Achill Island. We loop back to Mulranny and the Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail for a visit to Ballycroy Visitors Centre and the unspoilt wilderness of Wild Nephin National Park. |
Wednesday |
Today we join a local coach where our guide for the day brings the heritage of Co. Mayo to life. See the Killala Roundtower and the remarkable Céide Fields overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Visit Belmullet, along the impressive coast with sandy beaches before heading back to Ballina via Bangor Erris, on the banks of the Owenmore River. |
Thursday |
Today we visit Foxford Woollen Mill, founded in 1892 by an Irish nun, with an introduction to a century of manufacturing and craftsmanship. Take time to browse before visiting the National Museum of Ireland. Here, immerse yourself in Ireland's rural past but recent way of life and the Victorian Gothic mansion which overlooks gardens and parkland. |
Friday |
We travel to Dublin with an afternoon at leisure before continuing to the Clayton Hotel Leopardstown for dinner and our overnight stay. |
Saturday |
Breakfast today is included on board our return Irish Ferries sailing to Holyhead then we continue homeward. |
