Itinerary
Monday |
We drive north to Salford Quays, Greater Manchester's unique waterfront destination. Home to the Imperial War Museum North and The Lowry amongst others the Quays offers a fantastic choice of things to do and see before we continue to our hotel for our 4-night stay. |
Tuesday |
Enjoy a jaunt up the coast to Lancashire's entertainment capital, Blackpool. Discover award-winning attractions and the world-famous Blackpool Tower and Ballroom. This evening enjoy a Guided Illuminations drive taking you through the 6 miles of dazzling "artificial sunlight" as over a million lamps, lasers and light bulbs create an electric extravaganza. |
Wednesday |
A day at leisure to experience the wide-open sandy beaches of St Annes with its traditional pier, beach huts, mini links golf or the pretty green and historic windmill on Lytham Green offering views across to Southport and even North Wales on a clear day. |
Thursday |
We first visit the city of Lancaster, famed for its castle and Georgian architecture, before returning via Morecambe, boasting wide expanses of beach and a glimpse of the Lakeland fells in the distance. |
Friday |
We head homeward, but not before a visit to Rufford Old Hall (NT). A stunning Tudor Great Hall with fantastic furniture, tapestries and a carved oak screen. History springs to life in the Hesketh's dining room, its food laden table, lit candles and 'fire in the hearth' waiting for the family's dinner guests. |
