    Itinerary

    Sunday

We journey north to Cumbria arriving late afternoon at Crown at Wetheral for our 4-night stay.

    Monday

This morning, we make our way to the coastal village of Ravenglass and embark on a return railway journey on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to the heart of the Lake District, Dalegarth. Locally known as the La'al Ratty, onboard we enjoy the views as we head into the fells. On our return to Ravenglass, we visit the historic Muncaster Castle & Gardens, which is still family-owned in a magnificent setting in the Western Lake District.

    Tuesday

We visit Lowther Castle and Gardens and, after a short introductory talk, we have time at leisure to explore the castle and gardens. After being abandoned for 50 years, today the gardens are nearly 20 years into a masterplan of restoration, offering visitors a wealth of fascinating discoveries. In the afternoon, we enjoy a scenic cruise on one of England's most beautiful lakes, Ullswater from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding. Sailing on a heritage steamer boat, enjoying afternoon tea on board.

    Wednesday

We spend this morning at leisure in the lovely market town of Keswick nestled between the majestic Skiddaw Mountain and the serene lake of Derwentwater. In the afternoon, we enjoy a delicious afternoon tea at Bassenthwaite Lake Station. Situated opposite the scenic Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve, the restored railway station has a delightful café with a full-size replica steam train, and former Art Deco carriage in which to enjoy our indulgent tea.
