Itinerary
Day 1 |
We drive to Southampton for our ferry crossing to the Island, arriving at our hotel during the mid-afternoon. |
Day 2 |
Today we have included a visit to Osborne House (EH). "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot" said Queen Victoria of Osborne House, her palatial holiday home. Visit Victoria and Albert's private apartments, their bathing beach and children's play-cottage for an intimate glimpse of royal family life. Then stroll through the garden terraces where the stunning views across the Solent reminded Prince Albert of the Bay of Naples. We also visit nearby Whippingham Church, where Victoria and Albert were once regular members of the congregation. |
Day 3 |
This morning we visit the superb Botanic Garden and Visitors Centre, followed by free time in the afternoon to discover the delights of Ventnor. Later enjoy a delicious cream tea at our hotel. |
Day 4 |
This morning we visit Carisbrooke Castle sitting high and proud at the heart of the Isle of Wight, Carisbrooke Castle has been an artillery fortress, king's prison and a royal summer residence. Today it is the quintessential romantic castle, with lots to see and enjoy in the fresh open air. Next, we continue to the picture-postcard setting of Godshill, where we include entrance to the marvellous Model Village - a 1/10 scale model of Godshill and Shanklin Old Town that nestles in the grounds of the Old Vicarage. |
Day 5 |
After breakfast we head to Cowes for our ferry back to the mainland and our journey homeward. |
