    Itinerary


    Day 1

    We travel north, arriving in York during the afternoon.

    Day 2

    Celebrate Yorkshire's most famous vet as we pay a morning visit to the World of James Herriot Museum, the fully restored site of his original 1940s home and veterinary practice in Thirsk. Then sit back and enjoy the views as we drive through the Yorkshire Dales, via Pateley Bridge to Grassington, the beautiful Dales village that was transformed into Darrowby during the making of the recent series.

    Day 3

    A day at leisure to enjoy and explore this compact walled City. The beauty of our centrally located hotel is you can simply please yourself. Will it be the Railway Museum, the Jorvik Viking Centre, The Shambles, a Cruise on the Ouse....so much choice! The list of museums is endless, plus its fabulous Minster, a wealth of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

    Day 4

    Step back in time on a tour of the magnificent Castle Howard, stroll the idyllic estate gardens and learn how the stately home was used as a filming location for Brideshead Revisited. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of the North Yorks Moors posing for photos by landmarks like Beggar's Bridge and Rosedale Abbey; visit the pretty villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Egton; and explore the lively market town of Helmsley.

    Homeward bound.
